Head: Factor Hobard
Description: You remember the Temple Tax Riots? Of course you do. Well Hobard is here to make sure those doors stay firmly off their hinges, and the temples will pay their dues to the Factions, or else.
Role in the Cage[]
The Temple Oversight branch has been staple work of the Athar since they became one of the original Factions. Only in the past they weren't really taken seriously, and neither had the money or manpower to properly combat the untouchable temples. It didn't help that the other Factions actively aided the Temples to frustrate the Athar more.
Now, the Temple Oversight branch is something of a boogeyman for the Temples. By The Ladys decree, they can operate as they see fit until the Triad start writing up laws against their activities. Burly Athar, more looking like thugs than priests, arrive at the doors of the many shrines in the city, demanding access to any and all material that could get a Temple in trouble. As the Faction of scribes before, they're good at handling such materials despite the fighting appearances.
Factor Hobard runs the branch, a mean Githzerai who has worked with Terrance for a long time, acting as his bully boy where Terrance prefers a softer approach. A grim, nasty fellow, more reminiscent of the Athar before Terrance, the kind who like trashing a temple, beating the priests and stealing the relics.
Working inside of the branch is mainly Athar, but anyone who isn't a fan of the Powers, or maybe just Sigils Temples, can be found with them. Planars from all sides, particularly who aren't keen on the Powers lounging around without any push-back on their home planes, are known to work with, if not for, the branch. For Hobard and his Athar, anyone willing to take the fight to the Powers can come along, whether they're in with the Great Unknown or not.
Philosophy[]
Factor Hobard is an old Athar, with old ideas. The False-Powers need a good kicking for pretending to be something they're not. He's not stupid about it though, like those Godslayers, he knows they're still a force to be reckoned with. But a Power needs belief, and who will believe in the Power when he doesn't have any priests or places of worship?
The branch call themselves 'Antitheists', which is a bit of a tongue twister (this antithesis for pronunciation). They're less about the Deist practices of Terrance and more about what the Athar don't like. Which is the False-Powers. Their belief is that when everyone starts fighting back, naturally the False-Powers will be revealed as shams, their 'power' will dwindle and their priests will soon abandon them once they start losing access to their abilities, since they're not true believers like the Athar are.
