A branch of the Believers of the Source.

Head: Factor Ombidias (NPC)

Description: A load of busybodies offering un-busy bodies honest pay for back-breaking work, it's these that help the Dabus in their maintenance while they wait around for some grand project to materialise.

Role in the Cage[]

The Public Works & Engineering branch is an odd construct of the Godsmen. The Factioneers in it basically just wander around the city looking for things to do, unless there's a major project on. What do they do exactly? Well whatever maintenance the Dabus do actually. It's rare to see a Dabus work alone now, sweeping the streets, trimming back the razorvine or tiling a roof, they usually have a few helpers now as well. Not that the helpers have a clue what the Dabus are trying to tell them what to do.

Everybody knows the city is always half way between falling apart and looking pristine. Almost always it's the Lady's Ward that's looking pristine of course, but to create a functional, sustainable and effective city, the Factions have to try and build it up a bit better. The Dabus alone can only really keep things going, though they have been known to tear up entire Wards when they see fit. Until they do that though, this is where the PW&E branch comes in.

Factor Ombidias runs the branch, a nine foot tall wood giant, a Voadkyn, expected to be the next Factol of the Godsmen after Ambar ascends. He's a thoughtful basher, but not unapproachable despite his enormous figure.

The branch actually has quite a number of non-Factioneers, not just Factioneers who aren't Godsmen. It pays well to pick up a shovel and start digging, and Ombidias makes certain the pay is fair. After all, there's plenty of work to go around! They haven't started any major projects in the city just yet, though they are in full swing with fixing up the Wards they can easily access. The Hive has gone untouched for now, of course, though the Factor has made some noise about doing something there as well.

Philosophy[]

Factor Ombidias is a through and through Godsmen. It's hard to say exactly where the giant differs from the current Factol in his approaches, but a few keen cutters have figured out a couple of things about him. They reckon Ombidias is about communal forging, not just personally, and they reckon he has a plan to forge the whole lot of them up the ladder when he's in charge.

So what do you call a community of Godsmen then? 'Godsfolk', and the 'Folk' are more than happy to accept others into their ranks. The forge cannot be worked alone, and without the community to support it, the smith cannot do his work. It's common to find smaller groups within the Folk that aim to all become Powers together, assisting each other in their quests up the ladder. Others agree with Ombidias, that unless the community goes up the ladder together all at once, then the community isn't ready to ascend.
