Role in the Cage[]

Who do you call when your ramshackle apartment bursts into flame 'cause some teething berk got caught up in a mage's ire? What name do you scream to the heavens when the Hive's collapsing infrastructure sends yet another cadre of Hardheads plummeting down into the undercity's bowels? Who is there to hear you when an errant portal belches a tidal wave unto the unsuspecting streets of the Clerk's Ward?

No one, 'cause the Ciphers are already on the job.

The City Emergency Services branches off from the usual individualistic drivel that comes so common with the Transcendent Beliefs and instead takes focus on the world around. Y'see these mad bloods don't much care for things like 'thinking' or 'worrying', they just exist by the seam of their pants, flying off the will of some Cadence that supposedly guides everything to where it should be. So who's to say that the Cadence won't put them in the right place to help put out a fire? Or to help some poor sods from getting crushed by a falling building? Hell, they'll gather by the dozens without even a word spoken if it means doing what they can to keep the city safe from any unexpected barmy business.

Don't get it twisted now, these bloods an't here for just any ole tea party. If some peeler has you parked in a dark alley ready to pike you for all your worth, you best be praying for the Hardheads, not these guys. In the worst of it they might show up to help clean up after a riot or maybe keep a building or two from toppling over, but they an't here to handle Triad work. Emergencies only, berk. They mean it.

At the head of them all sits Factor Abwan Valorstride; a brutish Ogrillon (that's Half-Orc and Half-Ogre for you Clueless) with about as much penchant to create as he is to destroy, reputed for his spirited merrymaking both on and off of the battlefield. Where Ciphers are often known to be stoic - reclusive to the public eye - he opts to act as the more charismatic face of the Transcendent Order-- even if it's one only a mother could love.

Now beneath him are a myriad of friendly, unfriendly, and downright stoic faces from all around the Cage, one of the more notable of which is the Factor's right hand and branch Lieutenant, Factoral XBF-00 "Starlight"; Although a fellow Cipher that's not to say all of the Service are beholden to the Transcendent Order. In matter of fact just 'bout any berk on the street could manage to join! True to the impulsive nature of their philosophy the Ciphers don't care so much about the formality of paperwork that tends to come with bureaucracy, no, they only care that the job gets done and done right. Don't matter if the berks helping along were just some handy clueless or a meandering Hardhead patrol. Everyone's where they are for a reason.

Philosophy[]

That's all well and nice of course, but what do you even call these berks? True to their calling, they don't really seem to care all that much but those that do have taken to calling them the 'Servers', though not to mistaken for your average bar wench 'lest ye be punched.

Really it surprised a few faces when Factor Abwan took head of the Emergency Services what with his obsession for the fight, but his philosophy emphasizes a beat that has long permeated through his beliefs: Community. By their nature Ciphers tend to be somewhat self-centric, focusing on each their own paths towards harmony with the Cadence. In his branch, however, Valorstride focuses on the individual's duty to maintain the well-being their surroundings as well as the folks livin' within them. By bringing the world around them into a more perfect state of being, so too do they come closer towards enlightenment.
