Rakshasa general

Austere Ones are rakshasa who focus their energies to control and master themselves instead of others. Many rakshasas do not understand why an immortal being decides to spend centuries in isolation and ascetic deprivation, contemplating the multiverse, when there are so many pleasures in life to indulge in. Yet even the most powerful rakshasa sorcerers maintain a healthy respect for the otherworldly abilities of the Austere Ones. While a rakshasa who has spent half a century contemplating the multiverse in a single spot may seem less threating, Austere Ones are just as ruthless and interested in world domination as their less meditative kin.

Requirements:[]

Race: Rakshasa

Alignment: Lawful Evil, Lawful Neutral, or Neutral Evil

Class: Monk

Class Features:[]

Hit Die: d8

Base Attack Bonus: High

High Saves: Fortitude, Will

Skill Points: 4 + Int modifier

Class Skills: Concentration, Craft alchemy, Craft trap, Diplomacy, Hide, Listen, Lore, Move silently, Parry, Spot, Tumble.

Total Levels: 10

Mystic Palm Thrust: at will, at level 1, the Austere One can strike a foe with a ranged touch attack. If the attack hits it deals unarmed damage that scales with monk levels (Austere One levels count as monk levels). If the Austere One has uses of Stunning Fist left, this ability employs one of them and adds a Stun effect (DC same as stunning fist). If no uses of stunning fist remain then the attack deals only normal damage without stunning effect.

Austerity: at level 2 the Austere One can choose one of the following Austerities:

  • Austerity of Cold: resistance to cold 10, Wisdom modifier is added twice to Will saves.
  • Austerity of Heat: resistance to fire 10, Wis modifier is added to Fortitude saves as a bonus.
  • Austerity of Storms: resistance to electricity 10, Wisdom modifier is added to Reflex saves as a bonus.

Prescient Reflexes: at level 4 an Austere One gains +1 dodge modifier to their AC, as though it were a level 5 monk. This bonus increases to +2 at level 9.

Austerity of Truth: at level 6 the Austere One can see through minor illusions with supernatural clarity, gaining See Invisibility as a permanent effect.

Magical Resilience: at level 8 the Austere One becomes even more innured to spellcasting than their mundane kin and thus their Spell Resistance equals 20 + character level.

Reincarnation: (Currently broken and don't work) at 10th level, once per day, an Austere One automatically reincarnates in its current caste and form if slain. This reincarnation heals the rakshasa to full hit points.
